To my Patients and Friends,
Matrix Personalized Medicine LLC is proud to announce our first introductory Mindfulness Meditation series.
Practicing mindfulness on a regular basis can bring improvements in both physical and psychological symptoms as well as positive changes in health, attitudes, and behaviors.
Mindfulness improves well-being
Being mindful makes it easier to savor the pleasures in life as they occur, helps you become fully engaged in activities and relationships, and creates a greater capacity to deal with adverse events and conflicts. By focusing on the here and now, we may be less likely to get caught up in worries about the future or regrets over the past, less preoccupied with concerns about success and self-esteem, and more able to form deep connections with others.
Mindfulness improves physical health
Scientists have discovered that mindfulness techniques help improve physical health in a number of ways. Mindfulness can: help relieve stress, treat heart disease, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, and alleviate gastrointestinal difficulties.
Mindfulness improves emotional and cognitive health
In recent years, psychotherapists have turned to mindfulness meditation as an important element in the treatment of a number of conditions, including depression, ADHD, substance abuse, eating disorders, family conflicts, anxiety, insomnia and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Additionally, mindfulness helps to facilitate better focus and productivity as well as creativity.
The sessions will take place here at Matrix from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm on the following four consecutive Tuesday evenings:
July 10th: Mindfulness Demystified – A demonstration and discussion of what, why and how mindfulness contributes to life and good health
July 17th: Listening to the body
July 24th: Sitting with the Difficult
July 31st: Taking in the Good
This small group will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, and there are only a few spaces left. Existing patients will be given first priority access (free of charge). We will then offer any remaining spaces to others in the community. Please note: we kindly request that participants be able to commit to attending all four sessions, as this tends to work better for the group.
Email Dr. Leibowitz at DrLarry@MyMatrixMD.com to RSVP and/or if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you!
